At Dove Green Private School, our vision of Learning Together, Growing Together,  is rooted in the values of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). These principles form the foundation of our school community, influencing every aspect of our environment, from students and staff to the broader DGPS community.

Diversity is celebrated at DGPS, where we recognise that our varied backgrounds, cultures, and perspectives enrich the learning experience. We create a space where differences are embraced, enabling our students to grow into global citizens who appreciate the richness of a multicultural world.

Equity is our mission’s cornerstone, ensuring every student has fair access to opportunities and support. We are committed to fostering an environment where individuals can reach their full potential, regardless of background, gender, or abilities.

Inclusion is at the heart of our school, demonstrating our dedication to building a welcoming and supportive community for all. We prioritise our students’ emotional and social well-being, ensuring that they feel respected, valued, and heard.

These core values—Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion—guide every decision we make, every curriculum we design, and every interaction we have. They define who we are and shape the inclusive learning environment we strive to create for our students, staff, and the DGPS community.

What does DEI look like at Dove Green Private School?

Our DEI journey began in 2023 as the new leadership team took shape, and since then, we have worked diligently to review our systems and practices to ensure they promote diversity, equity, and inclusion. We conduct regular reviews involving all stakeholders, including governors,  to ensure these principles continue to evolve and influence all facets of school life. We aim to move beyond being a multicultural school to becoming an intercultural one, fostering meaningful integration across all groups.

How is DEI implemented to raise student awareness?

We actively integrate DEI principles into our school day-to-day. Through cultural celebrations and year-round events, our Student Leadership group, wellbeing committee (staff) and sunshine committees (students), and the key role of staff committees, lead initiatives that engage the community in DEI. We’ve also reviewed our curriculum to ensure it reflects global best practices while being culturally relevant to our community and aligned with UAE regulations. Additionally, staff training on cultural awareness and curriculum adaptation further supports our aim to represent all students fairly, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds.

How are we supporting staff in understanding DEI?

To ensure our school community fully understands DEI, we’ve given it a voice and a platform to hear their thoughts and opinions and gather their insights and needs, helping us create a DEI policy that reflects their feedback. We have also appointed a DEI lead to provide a safe space for staff to raise concerns confidentially, and we will continue to provide training sessions to help staff better understand and navigate DEI issues.

What have we accomplished so far?

We’ve already made meaningful progress in our DEI journey. Surveys focused on sense of belonging and perspectives have helped us identify areas for growth. We’ve delivered professional development sessions aimed at internationalising the curriculum and are laying the foundations for continued progress through our first DEI impact report. These efforts are helping us create a truly inclusive environment at DGPS.

Our commitment to DEI is unwavering, and we look forward to building on these foundations to ensure that Dove Green Private School is a place where everyone thrives.
