Primary Curriculum

At Dove Green Private School, the Primary level of schooling takes students from age 5 to 11, and is broken into two stages:

  • Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2, ages 5 to 7)
  • Key Stage 2 (Years 3 to 6, ages 7 to 11).

Our primary phase at Dove Green Private School is committed to providing children with a quality education which promotes a love of life-long learning by inspiring, motivating and engaging a future generation of learners. Our bespoke curriculum is based on the National Curriculum for England, to ensure that the skills and knowledge gained here are in-line with UK expectations but adapted by our staff to have relevance to students living here in the UAE.  In addition to our core subjects mapped out by the National Curriculum, we teach Arabic, Islamic and Moral, Social and Cultural Studies, which make up the local Ministry of Education curriculum.

In Key Stage 1, we build on the child-centered foundations set in the Early Years providing an exciting and engaging environment for our children to thrive. We continue to deliver opportunities which make the learning experiences memorable. This is done through rich texts at the heart of each of the topics, allowing children to really get inside of the story and feel passionately inspired to discuss important issues and write purposefully, therefore, building up their skill set further to implement into Key Stage Two.

At Dove Green, we pride ourselves on encouraging every child to reach their full potential. Our teachers are constantly challenging students’ thinking in new ways through engaging and stimulating lessons; helping them to think outside the box and question things more thoroughly. Our students are encouraged to use skills of creativity, collaboration, communication, and critical thinking throughout the curriculum. As a school, we do not use textbooks and worksheets, as these often have pre-determined learning material which can inhibit progress. Instead, our curriculum is brought to life by the skilful planning of exciting hooks that engage our learners from the outset. The involvement of our young learners in deciding what and how they learn, ensures greater personalisation of the curriculum to the individual child, therefore, making it more interesting, exciting, and purposeful.

At Dove Green, we want our students to be passionate about their learning and understand the importance and impact of life-long education.

Learning together, growing together.
