All about Ms. Lloyd
Ms. Lloyd is very excited to be joining the Dove Green Community in August 2022! Ms. Lloyd is from a small town in the North of England called Preston. She moved to the UAE one month after graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Honors degree in Primary Education in 2020. Ms. Lloyd studied at John Moores University in the city of Liverpool and worked in a nursery and pre-school setting whilst completing her teacher training. For the past 2 years, Ms. Lloyd has been teaching at an International school in Sharjah where she has taught Year 1 and Foundation Stage 2.
Ms. Lloyd’s aim is to empower students to be actively involved in their own learning whilst developing a strong connection with their individual talents and passions. As a teacher, she ensures that children can make real-world connections through exploration, problem solving and inquiry-based learning. Ms. Lloyd provides hands-on active learning experiences that are fun, engaging and develop children’s curiosity and creativity.
A strong passion of Ms. Lloyd’s is to nurture children who read for pleasure, reading has endless benefits which she believes all children should experience. Introducing strategies into the classroom that promote children’s intrinsic motivation to read is a desired goal of hers. At the heart of learning in Ms. Lloyd’s classroom is a growth mindset, through her own experiences she has learnt that anything is possible when you put your mind to it and therefore she aims to nurture ambition and inspire all children to be the best they can be. During daily lessons, Lauren provides opportunities for children to work collaboratively, develop their confidence to work independently, take risks and overcome challenges. But more than anything, she ensures that her classroom is a happy safe environment where children have fun and are not afraid to make mistakes!
When asked what is the best thing about Dove Green, Ms. Lloyd replies: When I first visit visited Dove Green, everyone was so friendly and said hello to me, this made me feel very welcome and also gave a real sense of happiness around the school!
Fun Fact: During her spare time, Ms. Lloyd loves to play netball for a social league team in Dubai!
