Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11)

Key stage 4 (KS4) is a two-year course that concludes with the taking of formal GCSE’s exams, in both mandatory and optional subjects, which will include vocational and creative pathways.

All students will study:
Mathematics, English, Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics), Arabic, Physical Education, Social, Moral and Cultural Studies. With an additional 3 optional GCSE’s

Students will then be prepared to complete their A-levels across Year 12 and Year 13 (Key stage 5).  Completion of Key Stage 5 will ultimately lead to a clear pathway to university on a course of their choosing.

Year 10 mock examinations

Year 10 mock exams are essential to the British education system and are designed to help students prepare for their final exams the following academic year. By taking these mock exams, students can get a feel for the format and content of the actual exams, identify areas where they may need to improve, and practice their exam-taking skills in a low-stress environment. Year 10 mocks are standard protocol, and all British schools will test students in a like-for-like environment to help them understand what is to come in year 11.

It is important to encourage your child to take these mock exams seriously and to use them as a learning opportunity. The feedback they receive from these exams can help them focus their revision efforts and improve their performance in the final exams. We believe these mock exams are a valuable tool in helping our students succeed, and we appreciate your support in ensuring your child is well-prepared. Assisting your child as they prepare for examinations is extremely helpful and can aid their academic success. Furthermore, you can help your child when they have assessments by:

  • Ensure that they have a restful sleep at night.
  • Encourage them to eat a full breakfast before leaving. Food provides cognitive energy.
  • Avoiding arguments will help create a pleasant home environment because arguments can lead to additional stress.
  • Make sure they arrive at the exam center well before the scheduled time.
  • Make use of Flashcards for a game of rapid-fire questions when they are ready for it

All of our DGPS  teachers are experienced with the iGCSE programme and are here to support your child to equip them with the tools to get the very best out of this experience.

This is a significant milestone in a student’s academic journey, where they can showcase their hard work, dedication, and subject knowledge. While these exams are undoubtedly important, they are opportunities for growth and learning, a chance for students to challenge themselves and get comfortable with the examination process they will go through next year.

Please remember that success in mocks is not just about the grades you receive but about the preparation and effort students put in, the resilience they demonstrate, and the lessons they learnEach question answered, and each concept understood is a step forward in your academic and personal development and one more step towards your GCSE results.
