All About Mrs Rothwell

Mrs Rothwell’s passion for mathematics was first sparked at school by her inspiring maths teacher, Mr Hill. She went on to study A Level Maths and Further Maths, followed by a Mathematics degree at the University of East Anglia.

After university, she began working as a Learning Support Assistant at her former school, where she discovered a passion for teaching. This led her to train through the Graduate Teaching Programme. Since then, she has spent over 14 years teaching in both the UK and the UAE, supporting students from Years 7 to 13.

Throughout her career, Mrs Rothwell has held several leadership positions, including Key Stage Coordinator, Deputy Head of Department, and Head of Teaching and Learning. She draws on these experiences to support high standards and innovative teaching in the classroom.

A strong advocate for the Mastery approach in mathematics, Mrs Rothwell completed a three-year training programme with the NCETM as a Secondary Mathematics Mastery Specialist. She is known for making learning fun and memorable—often singing maths-themed songs—and is dedicated to helping every pupil realise their full potential in mathematics.

When asked, what are you most looking forward to at Dove Green? Mrs Rothwell replies: I’m really looking forward to being part of such a warm and inclusive school community and being a part of the exciting journey the school is on.

Did you know? Mrs Rothwell has a passion for country music!
