Professional Background

Mrs Pollitt is entering her seventh year of teaching at DGPS after moving from Qatar and has ten years of experience as a class teacher. She has taught Year 3 and across Foundation Stage and is passionate about creating inclusive, engaging learning experiences where all children feel supported in taking risks, learning from mistakes and thriving.

Mrs Pollitt holds a Degree in Construction, a PGCE from the University of Buckingham and has Qualified Teacher Status.  She has a particular passion for early phonics, mathematics and science and believes in supporting a child’s development through experiential learning and play.

My Teaching Philosophy

I believe that childhood should be filled with wonder, laughter, friendship, and discovery. I aim to create a nurturing environment where every child feels a sense of belonging and develops the confidence to explore, question, create, and grow. By celebrating each child’s unique strengths and interests, I hope they leave my classroom believing, “I am capable, I am valued, and I can do amazing things.”

What Children Can Expect in My Classroom

  • A safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where mistakes are celebrated as valuable opportunities for learning, helping children develop confidence, resilience and independence.
  • Rich opportunities to play, communicate, collaborate and explore, fostering curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.
  • High expectations alongside nurturing support, where every voice is heard, strengths are celebrated, and all children are empowered to achieve more than they thought possible.

Outside the Classroom

Outside of school, Mrs Pollitt enjoys kayaking, swimming, travelling, and exploring the arts. She is passionate about discovering new cultures, embracing new adventures, and learning from the people and places she encounters along the way. One of her greatest joys is spending time with her grown-up children and creating lasting memories together. Mrs Pollitt believes that a positive mindset, resilience and adaptability are key to personal growth. She is passionate about supporting others and encouraging people to view challenges as opportunities to learn, grow and thrive in an ever-changing world.

A Message to Families

“I look forward to getting to know your child’s unique personality, interests and strengths, celebrating their achievements, supporting them through challenges and watching them grow throughout the year. I also look forward to building a strong partnership with you, sharing your child’s successes and creating many wonderful memories along the way”.
