Governor’s Profile: Lena Gaitanou
All About Me:
My name is Lena Gaitanou, and I am from Greece. I have been working at Dove Green Private School since 2016 and I love its warm and cosy atmosphere.
For the past two years I have been teaching in Foundation Stage, where I enjoy being part of the children’s first years of their learning journey. I am very passionate about promoting Inclusion and that is why I am currently studying for a Master’s in Special Educational Needs. Prior to becoming a class teacher, I was teaching English as a foreign language for more than 10 years.
I have lived and studied in the UK, where I obtained my first degree in Business and Financial Economics, and worked for BP. After working in the private sector for a few years, I decided to pursue my passion for teaching. So, I studied for a TESOL, which allowed me to teach English as a foreign language, and shortly after I joined DGPS I qualified as a teacher.
I moved to Dubai with my family in 2014, and we enjoy living in such a diverse city, where we get to meet people from different countries and cultures. I have a son and a daughter, who were students at DGPS for five years.
Vision for the school going forward:
DGPS to be one of the best schools in the UAE, offering quality teaching, fostering the students’ love for learning, and inspiring them to achieve their best, while providing a nurturing environment and a solid foundation for them to build on.
When asked what the best thing about Dove Green is, Mrs. Gaitanou replies:
One of the best things about Dove Green is our school community, that actively cultivates respectful, supportive relationships among students, teachers, and parents.
