Safeguarding

Safeguarding at Dove Green Private School

At Dove Green Private School, safeguarding is at the heart of our commitment to student wellbeing. We believe every child has the right to feel safe, valued, and respected, and it is our shared responsibility as a school community to protect, nurture and empower our children.

We are proud to be a KHDA and BSO-rated ‘Good’ British International School in Dubai, and our safeguarding practices align with both UAE Federal Law No. 3 of 2016 (Wadeema’s Law) and the UK’s Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) 2024. These frameworks ensure that all students are protected from abuse, neglect, exploitation, and harm, while promoting their rights to equality, education, and wellbeing.

Our Safeguarding Team

We have a dedicated and highly trained Safeguarding Team who are available to respond to concerns and provide support and guidance to students, parents, and staff across our school community:

  • Mrs. Rachael Parums (Primary Principal – Head of Safeguarding & Wellbeing)
    Whole-school Designated Safeguarding Lead – Level 3
  • Ms. Jeannette Jones (Assistant Principal – Head of Pastoral & Inclusion)
    Whole-school Designated Safeguarding Lead – Level 3
  • Mr. Timothy Dray (Associate Assistant Principal)
Secondary Designated Safeguarding Lead – Level 3
  • Mr. Jason Hirst (Deputy Secondary Principal)
    Level 3 Safeguarding Trained
  • Ms. Mariana Bolivar (School Counsellor)
    Level 2 Safeguarding Trained

All Dove Green staff are trained annually to Level 1 as a minimum, with regular updates and scenario-based refreshers throughout the year. Safeguarding is embedded into every aspect of school life, from pastoral systems and curriculum design to recruitment, site access, and digital learning.

Support for Families and Students

We understand that safeguarding extends beyond school gates. Our pastoral team and counsellor are available to support parents and students facing challenges at home or school. Whether it’s emotional wellbeing, family transitions, or behaviour concerns, our team is here to listen, support, and guide.

We actively encourage students to speak to trusted adults if something feels wrong or unsafe, and we foster a culture where every child knows they will be heard, supported, and taken seriously.

Reporting a Concern

If you see or hear something that concerns you, please speak to a member of our safeguarding team. You can also report directly to our Designated Safeguarding Leads:

All concerns are handled sensitively, with the child’s best interests at the centre of every action we take.

At Dove Green, we live by our ethos: Learning Together, Growing Together, and that includes growing a culture of safety, trust, and care for every member of our school community.

Everybody has a role to play in protecting children.
