All About Jack Huges
Mr. Hughes gained his first class BA (Hons) in English Language for Education at the University of Manchester, UK. He later gained his PGCE in Secondary English with QTS from the same establishment, through the Teach First training programme- which champions educational equity for all, bridging the attainment gap in impoverished communities.
Mr. Hughes worked at the Coop Academy Manchester for several years as a teacher of KS3 & KS4 English, before moving to the UAE this summer to begin his teaching
journey abroad. He arrived at Dove Green in September 2022 to take on the position of teacher of English for Y7-9. Mr. Hughes believes in engaging his students with schemes of work which spark a passion for his subject discipline and provide the opportunity for students to develop the necessary reading, writing, speaking and listening skills to succeed in later life. He is an advocate of championing pupil voices and wants his students to feel that English is a safe space to express one’s views and explore the world through an analysis of language and literature. When asked what is the best thing about Dove Green, Mr. Hughes said that the pupils and their enthusiasm for learning is amazing and makes what he does so worth while.
