All About Mr. Pierce

Mr. Pierce is a teacher of physical education from Brighton in the south of the United Kingdom.

From 2015-2018, Mr. Pierce studied at Cardiff Metropolitan University in Wales where he attained a BSc (Hons) degree in Sport and Physical Education. He then moved back to his home-town, Brighton, and completed a 1-year PGCE with QTS in Physical Education.

After gaining these qualifications, Mr. Pierce decided to move to the UAE in 2019 where he was employed by a British International School in Sharjah. When moving, he had experienced a lot within a short space of time, for example, adapting to the culture of the UAE in addition to teaching through Covid-19. In 2021, Mr. Pierce moved into Dubai and worked as Head of Physical Education for grades KG-Y13 in a local private school.

Mr. Pierce will be joining Dove Green in August 2022 and he cannot wait to get started!

He is looking to integrate his teaching ethos of developing the ‘whole-student’ and not just their body and movement fundamentals. He states that Physical Education is an opportunity to teach students about movement, strategies, teamwork and health related fitness that will help motivate young people into participating in lifelong physical activity.

Additionally, Mr. Pierce’s specialist teaching interest is football. He is a huge Brighton and Hove Albion enthusiast and former season ticket holder. He also has lots of coaching experience external to working within a school environment and also currently plays in the Dubai Amateur League. He also has a big interest in golf and cricket which he enjoys playing during the weekends!  When visiting one of Mr. Pierce’s lessons, you would feel the positive energy from himself and his students. Mr. Pierce believes that Physical Education should be made fun, first and foremost, so that students are then willing to be experimental and push themselves to further their physical capabilities.

When asked what is the best thing about Dove Green, Mr. Pierce replies:

The first thing that grasped Mr. Pierce at Dove Green was the overall positivity. He agrees that a happy school leads to more engagement and furthers the possibility of High-Quality learning to occur.

Fun Fact:

Before moving to the UAE, Mr. Pierce spent 4-months of the summer as a football coach in San Diego, California where he lived with ten different American families during this time.
