All About Mr. JOE SOMERS
Mr Somers studied at Southampton Solent University where he attained a degree in Sport and Physical Education. He then completed a PGCE in Primary Education with a PE specialism at the University of Worcester.
Since then, Mr Somers has taught in the independent sector in the UK as a teacher of PE and Games and a Year 3 Class teacher. During this time, he has gained a wealth of experience teaching PE to pupils from FS1 to Year 8.
Mr Somers strives to ensure that Physical Education develops the whole individual by developing not
only physical skills but attributes and life skills they can apply to wider areas of their learning journey
and beyond. He believes that creating an engaging and enjoyable environment which challenges and
includes pupils in the learning process is extremely important.
When asked what are you looking forward to at Dove Green? Mr Somers replies: I am looking forward to working within the Dove Green community and providing pupils with enjoyable
experiences in sport and Physical Education.
Fun Fact: Mr Somers enjoys a challenge and once completed 100,000 steps in one day. It took him 20
hours and he walked 85km in total.
