All About Mrs. Pollitt

Mrs. Pollitt obtained her undergraduate degree at the University of Northumbria, Newcastle and her PGCE at the University of Buckingham.

Mrs. Pollitt obtained her first degree in a construction/engineering field, in which she worked for 17 years.  In 2012 she relocated to Qatar where she began her training in early years/primary education at a large international school, working as Senior Learning Support Assistant, working in the classroom and with the P.E. department, qualifying as a swimming teacher in the process.

In 2016, she moved to the U.A.E and worked as a homeroom teacher at an international school in Ajman.  It was whilst there that she undertook her Post Graduate Certificate in Education, before moving to Dove Green in September 2020.

As a teacher, she believes that project based experiential learning is the means by which the young mind develops the skills necessary to become a life-long learner.

She has special teaching interests in inclusion, mathematics, science and art.

Her ideal classroom is allowing for play based experiential learning, driven by the interests of the students at the pace they choose.  It fosters the building of relations in a secure environment, whilst providing spaces where the students can take time for themselves.

When asked what the best thing about Dove Green is, Mrs. Pollitt replies:

Family, fun and community.

Fun Fact

When NASA selects astronauts for missions, it tries to recruit someone with dyslexia!  That’s because the dyslexic brain solves problems in a different way to the ‘average’ brain.  So, if there is problem when they are in space there is more problem-solving power!
