All About Mrs Valettini

Mrs. Valettini studied Modern Foreign Languages at the University of Westminster, in London, and then was awarded a PGCE in MFL, at the University of Portsmouth. In addition, Mrs Valettini studied and lived in Lyon, France, where she had the opportunity to learn more about the French culture and lifestyle.

She has been teaching at Dove Green since November 2020 and enjoyed working with this amazing team ever since. Mrs. Valettini taught French, Italian, Spanish and German in the UK, from KS1 to KS4 and also learned some Chinese while teaching in China.

She believes that students need to be aware of the benefits of learning a foreign language. This is because it will allow them to being able to participate in and appreciate more the culture of the people where the language is spoken. Furthermore, bilingualism is linked with being better at multitasking, as well as improving memory and concentration. Finally, through the use of songs, traditional stories, playing games and using technology, the children will enhance their motivation and confidence in acquiring a foreign language, while having fun.

In her spare time, Mrs. Valettini enjoys keeping fit by working out, hiking or biking. She loves outdoors activities and travelling, meeting people from diverse cultures and learning further about the world.

Mrs. Valettini classroom is a safe environment, in which to develop meaningful relationships and where students are free to express their opinions. Besides, she believes in embracing and respecting diversity while learning and appreciating the beauty of foreign cultures.  Mrs. Valettini’s goals are to share with the children her passion for languages, promote curiosity for learning and making them aware of the benefits of learning foreign languages.

Fun Fact:

When Mrs. Valettini was living and working in China, she volunteered to be a reporter for the National Television and interviewed one of the nine licensed chefs who can cook pufferfish. This type of fish is poisonous, but considered as a delicacy in Asia. As there is still not known antidote for its poisonous toxins, Mrs. Valettini was not too keen on trying it. However, she overcame her hesitation and had the pufferfish stew. to her great surprise, it tasted delicious!
