All About Miss McCombs
Miss McCombs has been teaching at Dove Green Private School for five years. Having completed a 4 year Primary Teacher Degree at Liverpool Hope University in 2014 she has now been teaching for 8 years, 5 of which have been spent here in Dove Green. In her teaching career so far, she has taught in FS, KS1 and KS2 and became the KS1 leader in August 2020. She led English in FS and KS1 for the first three years, implementing the Read Write Inc scheme into the school. This is a great passion of hers; equipping children with the skills to read at a young age so they can find out for themselves all about the world around them. Miss McCombs is currently completing her NPQSL which is a masters in senior leadership for education through the University College London. Next year she is very excited to embark on her new out of class role of Assistant Head with a specific focus on teaching and learning.
Vision for the Foundation Stage and Key Stage One going forward:
Young children learn the skills they need for life through play. Miss McCombs wants to ensure children have access to an environment that empowers them to be imaginative. The foundation stage is a fantastic opportunity for the children to develop their independence, creativity and their ability to make choices. Miss McCombs and the fantastic FS team are ready to welcome the next cohort of children and see what sort of learning journey the children’s interests will take them on next.
In KS1 Miss McCombs wants to then build on the child-centred foundations set in the Early Years providing an exciting and engaging environment for our children to thrive. To continue to deliver opportunities which make the learning experiences memorable. This is done through rich texts at the heart of each of the topics, allowing children to really get inside of the story and feel passionate. To continue to encourage the children to learn through collaboration, investigation and perseverance and go on to become real-life problem solvers.
When asked what is the best thing about Dove Green, Miss. McCombs replies:
‘The community atmosphere, even though I may be 5000 miles away from my home, this school feels like it has been lifted straight from the UK.’

Miss McCombs once got stranded on Castaway Island in Fiji!
