All About Mrs. Themis

Mr. Themis has been a musician and educator since his teenage years. After many years of studying at conservatoire level and working as a performing musician, he enrolled at Leeds College of Music, where he obtained his BA(Hons) and Master’s degrees in Jazz Studies.

Following graduation, Mr. Themis gained considerable experience as an instrumental teacher working with various schools and colleges in the UK, and completed his PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status at Huddersfield University.

In 2016, Mr. Themis relocated to the UAE and worked at a British School in Abu Dhabi, before joining the Dove Green family in 2019.Inspiring and enabling young people to create music and express themselves is one of the most rewarding and fulfilling aspects of Mr. Themis’s work. In order to achieve this, he ensures that the music classroom is a safe and inclusive place for learning and experimentation, and that it fosters creativity, curiosity and an open mind.

Music is also a wonderful window into different cultures, genres and traditions as well as a gateway into history, sociology and philosophy. Mr. Themis finds exploring musical context with, and learning alongside (and often from) his students to be hugely rewarding.

Vision for Music at Dove Green Private School going forward:

An even stronger musical ethos and presence in the school, with frequent performances, clubs, concerts and cross-curricular projects.

When asked what the best thing about Dove Green, Mr. Themis replies:

Our wonderful and very talented children!

Fun Fact:

When he is not practicing or performing, Mr. Themis loves drawing and painting and his inspiration is, predictably, music and musicians.
