All About Mrs. Cunningham
Mrs. Cunningham gained her BA Hons at the University of Wales, Newport where she studied Primary Education and gained Qualified Teacher Status in 2008. After teaching in her home town of Cardiff for five years in Year one, she travelled the world alone for 16 months before returning home. She visited lots of wonderful countries such as Australia, New Zealand, Thailand, Cambodia and Malaysia. After travelling, Mrs. Cunningham decided she wanted to experience living in the UAE, little did she know that this would become her home for eight years to date!
Mrs. Cunningham first moved to Sharjah where she taught in a British International school for two years. In her second year at this school she became Head of Year.
Mrs. Cunningham then accepted her role at DGPS in 2017 and has been teaching here ever since. Mrs. Cunningham taught in FS2 for two years before moving into Year one.
This year will be Mrs. Cunningham’s second year in the role of Head of Year One at DGPS. She’s excited once again to lead a team of passionate teachers who are keen to support the children in the Year one cohort.
Mrs. Cunningham strives to deliver fun, practical lessons that support and challenge the students effectively and is excited to support children in their transition from FS2 to Year one.
As Head of Year and reading leader, Mrs. Cunningham is aware of the student’s needs and abilities within year one and therefore, this enables her to be able to provide realistic yet challenging targets for each child to ensure that they make good progress.
When asked ‘what is the best thing about Dove Green?’ Mrs. Cunningham replied:
“I feel at home at DGPS. The staff, children and parents are wonderful and I have built so many fantastic relationships. Coming to school here every day makes me happy.’
